Before you get in touch

Are you a registered tax agent?
Yes. TaxPoint Advisory provides tax agent services under The Accounting Academy Services Pty Ltd, a registered tax agent (No. 26233096). Your returns are prepared and lodged under proper registration and professional supervision.
How much do you charge?
Fixed fees, quoted upfront — no surprises. After a free initial chat, we give you a clear fixed quote for the work you need, so you always know the cost before anything starts.
When is my tax return due?
If you lodge yourself, the deadline is usually 31 October. Once you’re on our client list as a registered tax agent, you’ll generally qualify for a later lodgement date — often into the following May — provided your earlier returns are up to date. Deadlines depend on your circumstances, so check with us about your specific situation.
Can everything be done online?
Yes. We’re based in Point Cook and work with clients across Australia entirely online — documents, signatures, and consultations by phone or video. You’re also welcome to meet in person in Melbourne if you’d prefer.
I haven’t lodged for a few years. Can you help?
Absolutely. We regularly help people bring several years of overdue returns back up to date, deal with the ATO, and put a system in place so it doesn’t happen again. The sooner you start, the more options you usually have.
What can I claim as deductions?
It depends on your work and situation — but common claims include work-related expenses, and for investors, rental property costs, interest, and depreciation. We review your circumstances so you claim everything you’re entitled to, correctly and with the right records to back it up.
Do you work with property investors?
Yes — it’s one of our core areas, and as a property investor myself, I understand these questions first-hand. We handle rental schedules, capital gains, gearing, and structuring advice so your portfolio works tax-effectively year to year.
Do you offer bookkeeping and BAS for small businesses?
Yes. We take care of BAS, GST, and bookkeeping, and can set up cloud accounting so your records stay clean and lodgements stay on time — plus management reporting so you can see how the business is really tracking.
How do I switch from my current accountant?
Start with a free, no-obligation chat. If you’re switching, we handle the handover with your previous agent and manage the paperwork — it’s usually straightforward and there’s no awkward conversation for you to have.
